Foreign investors buy more in Spain

Spanish Property Market in 2015 - 2016

During last year, the foreign buyers have bought more properties in Spain than in the lasts years. In 2015 foreign investors bought approximately 48.000 properties showing an increase in sales of 13% as well as a 13% of the total of purchases.

The U.K. citizens were the foreigners who bougth the most, being 21% of the total and about 10.000 properties. This year this data may vary depending on the final result of the Brexit referendum and its still unknown future consecuencies.

French, germans and Swedish bought between 6 and 7%, the Chinese 4%.

These facts help to explain the increase of property prices in Spain, in the first trimester of 2016 about year-on-year 6.9%; and the 100.000 properties sold in this first trimester are the highest in the last 3 years.

The Spanish region where there have been more purchases are Andalucía, Cataluña, Comunidad de Madrid and Comunidad Valenciana.
